This site and the Aftwend reader list are run by Astris Project LLC, for the author Daniel Bissey. Here is what the list keeps, what it’s for, and how to leave it.

What we keep

When you join the list on the gift page, we keep three things:

• the email address you enter,
• the date and time you joined,
• the exact words you agreed to when you joined.

That’s all. The site has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking cookies, and it doesn’t follow you around the web.

Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the list for us. Like any web host, it handles your device’s network address to deliver each page and to keep out attacks. The sign-up form looks at that address for a few minutes, in memory only, to slow down anyone sending the form over and over. We never store it.

What it’s for

Your address is used only to send you the emails you asked for. The words beside the button on the gift page say what they are:

By joining, you agree to emails from Daniel Bissey about Aftwend: one welcome email with your copy, then only news of the Aftwend series, such as coming books and new parts of The Long Watch, Aftwend events like meeting the author, and new Aftwend merchandise. Every email has a link to leave. Your address is never sold or shared. Details are in the privacy notice.

We never sell your address, rent it or share it, except with the service that sends the emails for us, which may use it for nothing else. We rely on your consent to email you, and you can take it back at any time.

How long we keep it

Until you leave the list. Then it’s deleted.

How to leave

Every email has a link to leave the list, and one click takes you off it. To delete your address right now, enter it here:

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, to have a copy of it, or to have it deleted. Write to hello@aftwend.astrisproject.com and you’ll have an answer within a month. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority. The list is kept on Cloudflare’s servers, which may be in the United States.

Children

The list is for readers aged 13 and over, or older where the law says a person must be older to agree to emails on their own.

Changes

If this page changes, the date below changes with it. We won’t use your address in a new way without asking you first.
